My own personal protest

Sorry for not writing anything for awhile. It’s been hectic, and I wasn’t even in the country for the last week. I might be writing about my experiences sometime in the future, but this post is about a protest I wish to make.

My sister asked me to get her a DVD burner.

That’s not what I want to protest about.

I’ve talked to a friend of mine, who usually knows a thing or two about gadgets (hence his nickname, “gadgeteer”) and he said that I should go for either LG or NEC hardware. I own a NEC burner and am reasonably happy with it, so I figured this is good advice.

I logged on to the LG website and guess what? Israel doesn’t exist. I looked under Asia-Pasific, Middle East, Europre – Nada.

For us Israelis it’s not new that people like to manipulate maps. But I’d expect a multinational that is represented here and makes a lot of money in this country (probably more than from all of our neighbors put together) to show some decency and avoid the political game.

I decided to protest and switch to the NEC website to find a model there. Those LG scumbags won’t see a dollar from me.

Too bad, Israel isn’t on the NEC website either.

Those sites are proudly listing Pakistan and Iran and other third world dictatorships. Good thing they don’t have a section with coverage for the militias of Darfur, though I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

So, I’m done with those two. Anyone know of a reasonably priced and relatively reliable DVD Burner I can buy for my sister?

Thanks in advance.
